After a week or two of being horribly absent (bad girl! bad!) I'm once again dedicating a long night to bring theOtaku and the podcast boys some much needed news. Why I don't do it during the day, I don't know. And don't ask.
1.I Thought This Kinda Stuff Only Happened In Ghost Stories...
A man died in Okayama today, after being shoved in the way of an incoming train. When the officers arrived, an 18 year old immediately admitted to doing it, saying, "I thought that if I killed someone I could go to prison. I didn't care who it was." Anyone else find that kinda creepy?
2.Japan Will "Rock You"
A remake of Queen's classic "We Will Rock You" with traditional japanese instruments.
And if you liked that, there's also a video of the same group performing "Smoke On the Water". Both songs were performed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Great Edo Fire. The musicians were the Kabuki-za orchestra and part of the Suntory Hall Orchestra (the latter also occasionally features the Crown Prince on viola, but they didn't this time).
3.Live Action Akira Movie
Okay, so that initial "Yay!" you had at reading that I'm afraid I must now squash. Instead of a japanese remake, or even having a veteran american director do it, small time producer and big time actor Leonardo DiCaprio is heading it. I'll give you a moment to cry.
.....
Okay, moment up. This new adaption is proposed as a two part epic (the movie killer word, right there) and is currently slated for release next year. And just incase you haven't found it already, there's a little poll on japanprobe where you can scream "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" to your heart's content.
