Chapter 3
First day of horrors

“Why math first period?” I asked Cree and Tori in the hall, “ I’ll fall asleep.” I said looking glumly at the floor. “Hey, look we have gym together!” Cree said excitedly. “ Okay, Cree, that’s nothing to be excited about. All that we do is get super sweaty and have to be like that for the rest of the day,” said Tori ,” My crush is in my forth period and I’m gonna be as sweaty as a pig. To me that is so not sexy!” she screamed.
“Tori, they give us time to take a shower.” I interrupted. “ But, the showers are full of a bunch of giggling, screaming girls that stare at your boobs!” She said starting to cry. “I could have lived my whole life without knowing that.” A voice said behind me, “Oh, hi Jack.” Tori said looking behind me. “So…” he said, “what’s your schedule?” “Umm…I have first period math, Second drama, third P.E, fourth History, fifth English, sixth reading, and seventh science. Well, that’s strange I don’t know this teacher.” I said looking at my history period, “Mr. Claude? Is he new here?” I asked to them. “Yeah he is, his new and he’s cute!” Cree squealed. “Blah! What is he like ten years older than you! He’s old, we don’t watch the news but he does! He does I tell you!” Tori said grabbing Cree’s shirt. “Umm…Tori,” I said interrupting, “What?” “Stop shouting.” “Why?” “Well, people are starting to stare.” “Okay.” Tori said looking around at the people. “Oh man, that’s cool we have all the same classes.” Jack said excitedly. “ Well he’s not that cute but he is like super smart!” said Cree trying to change the subject. “What ever. Did you hear about his education? He barely made it out of high school I’m surprised that they are letting him teach here” Tori said happily. Then the intercom came on. “ Attention students please report to fourth period.” Oh great I get to deal with him now.
“Hi, class. I’m Mr. Claude, your history teacher. I really don’t care were you sit just pay attention. So, since I’m new here I want you all to come to the front and tell me your name, how old you are, your hobbies, and what you want to be when you grow up. Okay let’s start with you,” he said pointing to Seth. Wow, I thought to myself, he is cutie. He was tall, cute with brown curly hair, and emerald eyes almost the same as Seth’s. “Umm…I’m Seth. I’m thirteen, I like walking and playing the guitar, umm… I don’t know what I want to be.” “Okay then Seth you can sit. You.” He said pointing to Jack. Jack walked up with a smirk on his face. “I’m Jack. I’m thirteen, I like walking with my best friend,” he said winking at me. I couldn’t help but blush, “and hanging with her, and I want too be a werewolf!” he said. I froze, he just announced that he was a werewolf in front of everybody in the class. Then everyone started laughing, Good, I thought, they think he is joking. “Well that’s nice Mr. Jack. Now take your seat. Okay then, you.” He said pointing at me. “ Well, umm… I’m Shelby. I’m thirteen, I like hanging with my two best friends,” I said looking at them, “ I like singing dancing, and acting, I…” I looked at Jack he gave me this look that said, come on say something ridiculous like me, “and I want to be a vampire.” I said proudly. Jack smiled Seth sank in his sit. “Alright then Shelby, that’s very interesting. I’m hoping that we get to know each other better.” He said giving me this look that sent chills down my spine. So that’s when I knew that he knew something about Seth, Jack, and me. I knew he would try to keep us apart, but how long did we have together?
“Wow, he scared me.” I said as we walked down the hall. “Shelby, don’t worry about him,” Jack said, “All teachers have that feeling.” “But he’s different I think he knows who you guys are.” I said as I walked with them from school. “

Chapter 2
The Hike
I always hike when I’m mad, sad, upset, or just in the mood for a hike. Jack usually goes with me, because I don’t have enough sense to find my way back. He’s a good friend, Seth is a good friend to just not the ‘hug me cause I want a hug’ type. Gosh, I wish I could call Cree or Tori and ask them what should I say, but Jack and Seth looked like they weren’t going to let my out of their sight. So, I took a deep breath and thought here goes nothing. “Guys, I want us to be friends again.” I said with a sigh. “Shelby as I told you before, No!” Seth said with his pale face growing red which was unusually for him. I stared blankly wondering why he had such a temper, but I can fight back with these. “Well why don’t you just cool your temper and tell me the story about how this came along, cause quite frankly I don’t know the dang stupid story!” I yelled right back. I was getting frustrated by now. “God Shelby, you are so stubborn,” Seth sighed, “I told you it’s complicated.” He said, his eyes on me like I was invisible. “ I live for complicated stuff,” I said with a smug look, “try me. Go.” “ Fine, I’m afraid… I’m… I’m…I’m afraid of dumb bows,” He said looking at Jack, “I’m allergic to them.” He said smiling at Jack. Oh no. That did it… Jack is going to snap. I looked at Jack’s face it was turning a bright shade of purple. “Bye, Bye to nice Jack.” I mumbled to myself. “That does you little blood scared freak! Don’t you talk to me like that and don’t dare drag Shelby into this!” I looked and him and asked stubbornly, “What does that mean! I want to be involved in this! I have no clue what’s going on and I need to be in on this!” “No, no you don’t.” Seth mumbled to himself thinking I wouldn’t notice. “I’m your friend tell me now or…or…or I’ll burn myself or jump of a tree or something!” I yelled a little louder than expected. Seth and Jack exchanged looks and sighed, “fine,” Seth said with despair in his voice, “well, I am…umm… allergic to…Jack’s cologne.” “Oh yeah right!” I said. I was really annoyed by now. Of course, I wasn’t looking were I was going and there was a ditch with a ton of trees below. I let out a yelp as I tripped to my fall. Then everything went black.
When I finally came to there was something watching me I just knew it. I blinked rapidly as I opened my eyes from my black out. As I opened them I jumped at the sight, I saw a big wolf standing ten feet away from me. Stay still, I thought to myself, and maybe it won’t notice I’m here. I sat quietly not making any movement or noise not knowing what would wait in the future. Then right in the blink of an eye the wolf was a man in about one second. I noticed this man looked familiar with this ginger hair…wait ginger hair? What? “Jack,” I managed to mumble softly. He turned in shock when are eyes met horror was there, my heart sank. My best friend is a werewolf?
“Umm…no…I’m not Jack.” Jack said thinking I was still dazed. “Jack I know it’s you I just can’t believe that you’re a werewolf. Just think I didn’t know the most important part of one of my best friends life! Oh my god! Hey, where’s Seth?” I said looking around for Seth, “ you didn’t eat him did you?” I asked. He didn’t take that like I thought it would. “Hey don’t get smart with me, Shelby!” “Okay, Okay…don’t yell at me, I’m not a dog.” Uh oh not smart not smart! Think Shelby think! “I didn’t mean it that way!” I shouted quickly. “It’s okay Shelby. It takes some time to get use to.” “Well thanks. But still where’s Seth?” “That little wimp took off when he saw I saved you and you bleeding.” He said laughing. “Wait, Seth knows your secret too! Why didn’t you tell me?” I said, why wasn’t I in on the matter! Gosh sometimes I think there both stupid jerks! “Okay well we better find him, wolf.” I suggested with a big smile. “Okay, fine we’ll find the baby.” He sighed. “Hey, his my best friend too you know. So don’t get cocky mister.” “Okay, Okay.” He said holding back his laughter.
“Seth! Seth!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. “Seth get your butt out here! I’m all right no foul, no bruises, and no blood! So come on out!” Out of nowhere he’s right behind me and scares me half to death. “Are you alright Shelby? Did that mutt hurt you?” He asked me looking at Jack with a glare of evil. “I’m fine but your not.” I said crossing my arms. “What do you mean?” Seth asked with a questionable look. “I mean when did you two butt heads want to tell me about Jack’s secret? What next Seth’s going to be a vampire or something?” Seth’s face harden and looked horror struck, “Oh no, Oh no. Do not tell me that you’re a vampire, Seth for the love all that is cute and fuzzy! Do not do not tell me that!” “ Oh for the love of god, Shelby, I’m just kiddy you. Gosh don’t be foolish.” He said but his voice gave it away. “Well then since your not a vampire,” I said with a slight grin, “ then you can help me cut up some garlic or maybe help me with my cuts.” I said pulling up my sleeves showing my new bloody cuts. Then as soon as I said that and showed my cuts he froze in place, and then his pale face was as white as snow, his jaw was clenched, “Fine I am one just put the sleeves down before I snap. Now!” Gosh my plans are getting better and better than I thought. “Well now that I found out about your secrets, I think I can start freaking out now.” I said calmly, but then feeling woozy sat on a stump. “Okay, my two best friends are a vampire and a werewolf. Nothing strange about that… except…my two best friends are a vampire and a werewolf!” “Ok we get it,” Seth said looking at his feet.

Preface

This is not going as planned I never expected that my two best friends would be asking me to choose between them. This is insane…I can’t choose between them they’re both my friends. I have to find a way to get them to forget this insane idea, but how? How in the world will I get both Seth and Jack in the same room without them arguing? Well I guess I could ask them to meet me at Sonic, or maybe I can get my mom to drive us to the mall. Yeah the mall would be best. Okay well, here goes nothing.

Chapter 1
Rivals

“Come on Seth, pick up the phone.” I mumbled to myself. Finally some one picks up the phone, “Hello?” I realized at once that it was Seth’s mom. “Hey, umm…can I speak to Seth?” “Oh, hi Shelby, sure hold on a second.” Then the phone went silent, but only for a moment. “Hello?” I had almost forgot how Seth’s sweet, wonderful, pure voice. “Hey Seth, it’s Shelby.” “Hey Shelby so did you choose me over the wonderful Jack?”
He said with a sarcastic edge to his voice. “Umm…no. I haven’t decided yet. Do I really have to choose? Well why do I have I have to choose again?”
I said. But really they didn’t tell me in the first place. I have a right to know.
“I can’t tell you why, it’s complicated.” Complicated my butt I thought to myself. “Okay well, I just was wondering if you wanted to go to the mall with me?” It took forever for me to get the me part out I wanted to tell him I was going to invite Jack so badly, but I knew if I did he would never come so I had to lie. “Well okay that’s fine. When?”
“How about in two hours at the Chick-Fil-A.” “Okay” “okay bye” “bye”
I hung up the phone for just a moment before calling Jack, Jack was the sweetest thing in the world, and he is so kind. It only took two rings before Jack picked-up, “Hello,”
His voice was so lovely almost like music. I couldn’t help but stutter when I heard his voice. “Umm…huh… Hi Jack!”
I said excitedly. “Hi,” he said returning the excitement, “how are you?” “I’m good, you?” “Fine. Umm… did you want something?” “Oh, I’m sorry Jack. I was wondering if you wanted to go to the mall with me?” There was a brief pause before he said, “Seth is going to be there isn’t he?”
“Why would you say that?” I stuttered. “Well you usually take me and Seth to the mall?” he said. “If I say yes well you not come?” I asked. “And leave you with Seth alone not a chance!” He said laughing. I should have known that would turn out well. “Okay meet me in two hours at the Chick-Fil-A.” “Okay. I’ll see you then.” He said, I could almost see the smile on his face.
Oh great, I thought to myself, I just lied to some of my best friends, but wait I was doing this for they’re on good. Then I realized I had one hour too take a shower and get ready, I’m more of the person how takes one-hour showers. “Oh well,” I shrugged, “I guess I have to take a ten-minute shower. That should be fun.”
“I guess I have no time at all to dry my hair,” I said looking in the mirror, “guess it’s a pony-tail day.” I sighed looking at the comb, and then I looked up at the clock I had about five minutes to run to the mall. “Oh crap! I have to go!” I couldn’t find my good running shoes so I settled with flip-flops. “Hey sweetie, where are you going?” I realized without thinking it was my mom. “I going to the mall with Seth and Jack, Mom.” “Oh they’re friends again?” I looked at her with this look that said, “I working on it.” “Oh…well good luck with that.” “I need all the luck I can get.” I mumbled to myself.
I think I tripped about a thousand times on the way to the mall. I think I’m bleeding on my right knee, that won’t be good for Seth, I thought to myself, he hates blood I don’t why, but he does every since we were in preschool. Every time someone got injured he would always be about six feet away from the person he said that it made him sick but I know better, but I let it slide. I rushed into the mall again tripping over my feet. I went into Chick-Fil-A huffing and puffing, and then I saw them. They were staring at each other with intensity, I sighed, “Just like you two to stare at each other like you are fixing to mug somebody.” I said with laugh right behind it. They looked at me at the same time it was crazy. Then Seth said, “Shelby, I told you that I don’t want to be any where near this wolf hugger!” “Hey! So what if Jack likes wolves now stop yelling at me!” I screamed. Gosh, I hate when Seth gets mad, plus he has made me upset which is not good because then Jack gets mad… “Don’t yell at Shelby! Now you have made her upset!” They look at me I was sitting at a table now, hearing them argue, “Guys stop arguing and listen to me I want us all to be friends again this is getting ridiculous! I hate when you argue! Now I want to take a hike, so why don’t we all go to the hiking trail!
They exchanged looks and then shrugged. “I guess we can take a little hiking trip.” Jack said. I had to stare at him for a second with his dark ginger hair pulled back in a messy ponytail. He was tall but we where about the same height so we weren’t that far apart, but then when I looked at Seth he was looking at Jack with a sour look, but he still looked gorgeous with his black hair in his eyes he was not that taller then me by a few inches in his height. His and Jack eyes where totally different, Jack’s eyes were a bright blue, while Seth’s were emerald green. So they were really different, but I never realized until now that they had this hatred in their eyes. It made me shiver as we walked outside to see them despise each other, but hopefully I can fix this situation before it gets out of hand. I feel like their hiding something from me.
