I'm about to buy some DVDs soon, and I would have forgotten about The Girl Who Leapt through Time if you hadn't mentioned it. I've wanted that for some time.
I wish I could contribute, but my anime watching has decreased so much I might be forced to hand in my Official Anime-Fan card any day now! I'll get back on track someday.
I know what you mean about needing to both respect a show and enjoy watching it when it comes to deciding what you like best -- that is the feeling I get from the absolute top anime I love.
Weirdly enough, I list my anime but also think about them in terms of tiers. My top four favorites (Revolutionary Girl Utena, Monster, Eureka Seven and Kaleido Star) are head and shoulders above everything else I love. I always wanted to physically illustrate the tiers (complete with enormous gaps between sets of anime), but I dunno lol.
From your list of favorites, I want to voice my shared love of Gankutsuou. Totally going to get my sister to watch that later in the summer, haha. Also an admirer of The Girl Who Leapt through Time. What a fun movie.
Rose of Versailles is a show I have had my eye on for a while, too. I kind of feel as if I have to watch it, since it is such a heavy inspiration for Utena, haha.
I think you meant to put 20th Century Boys in the manga section, right? I'd watch the hell out of it if it were an anime, though. Totally insane and ridiculous (even more so than Monster), but damn it is awesome.
Anyway, uh, opinions. Kanon is a good series. I prefer Clannad and Air, but it's not a big step down from either of those. Kurenai is interesting -- it has one superb episode that is unlike anything I have seen in anime. Plus, just about all the women are awesome. Toradora! is just a tiny step below Honey and Clover in quality; the latter series is a bit more complex, and I don't think any character's journey is as awesome as Takemoto's, but it is damn good, regardless.

Oh, and my fav. character from Naruto is Sasuke, so yeah... Apparently, I'm into those traitor-types.

Oh wow, that helps a lot. Thanks! I think I'll watch Toradora sooner than expected, in that case.

Yeah, that's it. It's so ridiculously slash-able... like every other Kaori Yuki manga. xD
