Birthday Meal

Marquis of Ormonde was a bad, bad choice. We got there, walked in and were ignored. Not a great start. We then managed to get the attention of a member of staff to ask which table was ours, as we had booked. We were given a choice of two. We were just about to go take the one we wanted when a group of guys stole it off us. We were told on the phone when booking that we would be told what was on their 2 for 10 deal that night. Nothing like that happened. So, we had to wait ages for the waitress to come over, asked her and were annoyed when we were handed very scruffy looking printed out menus. The options? Scampi & chips, an omelette, a small a steak baguette and fish and chips. Not exactly great. Then we saw '12 til 3 ONLY' in tiny letters at the bottom. PFF! So, we looked at the regular menu and thought 'screw it, lets have what we want'. I saw the 'pie of the day' and my taste buds instantly went into overdrive. (Those who know me will know that I LOVE steak and ale pies.)

"What's your pie of the day?"

"We don't have any in today. We are having a new menu coming up."

Holy Hades... This place... One, why have an item on the menu still if you don't serve it, or at least have a warning on the blackboard? And two, how hard is it to print off a temporary menu? I mean, the ones they gave us were hardly classy! A4 sheets with awful clip art and bdly written meal descriptions! UGHFTWCDHGCHG I had a rage fest and promptly left hungry and annoyed.

So we went to The Hurt Arms instead. ^^ I love it there. I had my mushroom and asparagus risotto with parmesan and truffle oil and a mint chocolate cheese cake with mint infused cream to finish.

Then we paid a nice visit to a fave pub of ours. The Talbot Taphouse in Ripley. ♥ I had to have a lemonade instead of a pint of Barnes Wallis. I over-ate. XD
