Dragon scales tutorial

Here's a scale tutorial I made! If you have any questions, just ask! :3

1. Pick a base color and fill the area you want to draw scales on.
2. Make a new layer and draw the scales in black. Set this layer to a low opacity percentage
3.From this step onwards I have used a brush which changes in size and opacity with pressure. Pick a darker color and fill up the left or right side of the scale.
4. Pick a darker color and perhaps also slightly a different color blue. Bring in the shadow lines of the scales. Go with the curve of the scale. Note: shadow thicker at the base of the scale. Imporant to make ‘hard edges'
5. Pick a lighter brush and shade the light side of the scales Brush in lines. Make sure the (half of) tip of the scale is sharp and colored.
6. Pick a color slightly darker than the base.Shade the dark side o f the scale in lines. Make sure the middle right side of the scale is fully shaded.
7. Use a smaller sized brush and pick a lighter color than the lightest used up till now. Make tiny highlights on the tip of the scale , the left edge and
halfway up the middle line.
8. Pick the darkest color yet and shade a little in the darkest corners of the
scales.
9. Shade the areas that you think still need shading. I mostly shaded the right
side of the scales again. Finished! :D
