Hello Friends !

I've finally started a new world, after a lot of thought over what type of world I should create.. ( i must admit I was a little scared of starting a world - after all, I didn't think I had much creativity for that.... but here I start..!)

First of all, a few points about this world, what it does, how to use it.. who its for:

- it is for everyone to use
- it should help beginners and wannabe artists, as they can receive some advice here, and improve their skills...
- it is open to expert artists, who want to help freshmen colleagues at art, by giving their valuable advice...
- links to websites which help answer people's questions will be posted here..

There, those are the few basic points to start off with.... hopefully, I hope this goes as planned..

By the way, Art teachers visiting this blog are most welcome...!

and one more thing - I found many people criticizing newbies' art as "copied", "not original"... and I have to say I see the point behind this statement... but, after thinking about this problem, I thought - hey, people start by imitating, and only later can they create stuff... (and this is the case with people in every area of life)...

So, in this blog, anyone can try to redraw work done by others and get proper advice, etc... so they can improve.... of course, the point behind doing this is to help people until, they can start drawing on their own...

But, original thinking is really appreciated, and it is highly recommended that people try original art here !

Therefore, I hope no one will have problems redrawing others' work here - just as long as it helps people get better...!

By the way, anyone wanting to post useful stuff in this world, can PM me, and I will allow them access to the world !

So, here goes !

Here's an amazing piece of art I found on Deviant art - it is very inspiring, and truly depicts the spirit of art - as its title says "Art is a Creation" (by j00nk1m110 )

Writing stuff

So, this post isn't about the art of drawing. This is about the art of writing. When you read a book, it's not filled with sentences such as "The dog walked down the street and looked at a flower." It would more likely be something such as "The dog walked down the street on a hot Texas day in July. He stopped for a moment to look at the beautiful pansies that bloomed in the flower garden of Ms. Dawson."

Notice how much thought was put into that just to explain that a dog walked down a street and looked at flowers.

The key to writing is to elaborate. Instead of writing simply what is happening, specify a little. Add in little details that, when you're just talking, really wouldn't matter that much. But, when you're writing and you speak like that, you help the reader imagine exactly what's going on.

If you're writing a paper for your teacher, a good way to get the most you can out of a single sentence is to milk it. Instead of saying "Columbus discovered America in 1492." say something such as "Columbus, an explorer sent by Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand, the rulers of Spain at the time, discovered the land known today as the Americas in the year 1492."

Simple as that.

WORDS/OTHER STUFF TO AVOID

Any contractions (can't, don't, won't, etc.)
You (when writing in other than 2nd person)
ain't (because it's not even a word)

Shading tips

eka asked me to be a guest poster in this world because of my shading skills. To see my works, click here. I have a few tips about what to do when it comes to shading your artwork. It doesn't matter if you are using crayon, pencil, or colored pencil. These tips will work with anything.

When you shade work, start darker on the outside and slowly lighten until you get to the middle, then repeat the process backwards.
Use the side of the instrument. It makes it look more professional.
Shade in one general direction. Otherwise, your image won't look right.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAND there ya go!

No this isn't my work. I just thought it looked good.

Stage 2 Progress

Okay now here is the next stage for shading, pencil used was 2b (only), and tissue for smudging. It was important that i lay the paper on a smooth surface while doing this. The plan here is to start at the lightest tone on the skin and wor...
