Happily Ever After?

Alright. This is a rant on anime endings. Here we go…

As you must know, I am obsessed with anime. I have put in many hours to watching anime, and thus I’ve seen many endings. In my eyes, endings should resolve all conficts and not involve cliff-hangers (unless they plan on making another season, in which case cliff-hangers are great.) However in 90% of the shows I’ve watched to the end have terrible endings! These endings resolve NOTHING, give no hints as to what happens to your favorite characters farther down the line, and the company has no plans to make more. I’m sorry to spoil anything, but the endings for Inuyasha, Lucky Star, Haruhi, Dokuro-chan, and Hellsing range from bad to HORRIBLE! Now I will say that the endings are “artistic” and I loved all those mentioned series, but they leave you wondering what happens next. The writers always say “Well now you get to think and decide what happens next.” and I say screw you! If you just want me to imagine what happens next, why don’t you just make 1 episode and say “There ya go. Imagine what happens next!”?

*SPOILER WARNING!!!*

In the end of Lucky Star, they are just about to preform infront of an audience when it cuts to credits. In my ending, they would do the final dance, the crowd would go nuts, and they’d be on stage smiling. Then in the credits, a picture of each character would appear, along with a little paragraph on what they do after high school. As you can see, my ending is much more satisfying.

In conclusion, all you script writers either have to resolve ALL the conflicts, or close at a cliff-hanger that hypes the next season.

This has been a rant from the mind of Doom-sama. Thank you for your time.
