Teenage Guitarist
I watch you stand there,
With your boyish curly hair,
Dirty black chuck stuck out,
Guitar strung low.
Your fingers on its neck,
Caressing notes and chords,
Coaxing out a melody.
Your heart and soul in the song,
There's only you for it.
You're its life,
The creator of beauty,
The master of your craft.
I stand here watching you,
Imagining things that won't be,
And sing the melody you play.

Just Beyond My Reach
I’m always reaching,
Fingers closing tightly,
Yet never on you.
Once again I fall,
Sinking deeper into darkness,
And for every step you take,
You grow further away.
I grasp again,
But you elude me,
Just beyond my fingertips.
It’s like a game of tag,
And I’ve been It for the longest,
You easily evade me,
And I can never win.
I reach out over and over,
But I can never catch you,
You’re always just beyond my reach.

Closure
Say you’ll come back,
Don’t leave me like this,
Merely wishing for your touch,
Longing to hear you speak.
Return to me,
Melt the ice around my heart.
Hold me in your arms again,
Whisper in my ear,
Tell me everything’s okay,
Give me some kind of comfort.
I wish it was only a dream.
But when I wake up,
You’re still not there,
And you’ll never come back.
You’ve gone on,
To the other side of Forever,
Into God’s presence.

Rain
It falls down,
Like so many tears,
Blurring my vision,
Soaking me,
Cutting to the bone.
It reminds me,
Reopens wounds,
Forming new scars.
I taste it on my lips,
Feel it with my fingertips,
And as they come away,
Stained with blood,
I look to the sky.
It washes away fears,
Cleanses my doubts.
It makes me clean,
Makes me new.
It darkens my heart,
Pierces my soul.
I wish I could stop the rain.

Darkness, Pt. 2
This silent fear,
This nameless enigma,
Stifling my breathing,
Silencing my screams,
Stopping my heart.
As the lights go out,
The shadows envelope me,
Raping me of every sane thought.
The ravenous eyes,
The reaching claws,
The gnashing bloody teeth.
It's back to claim me.
