Art & Animation: Clunky CG work really detracts from some scenes. -- B-

Voice Acting: A

Objectionable Content: Blood, profanity, suggestive themes

Other: This series is based off a novel which already spawned an OVA some years back and a manga by the creator of FMA more recently.

The anime's plot is more involved than what is included in the above synopsis. Arslan has a young friend in the Lusitanian ranks, and while the two boys and their nations clash over religion, another factor playing into their bad blood is each country's stance over the issue of slavery.

The plot is good, but the anime doesn't really tie it up. Characterization is decent, and the poor CG takes away from the battle sequences. So, all in all, the series was very okay -- not bad, but not great.
