Sword Art Online II

Plot: The newest VRMMORPG craze is "Gun Gale Online", a shooter where a player can earn real money in tournaments. When two players are mysteriously killed -- seemingly after being shot by someone within the game -- Kirito is called to investigate. (A-)

Characters: The ones in the spotlight are handled well. (A-)

Art & Animation: Upgrade! -- A

Voice Acting: A

Music: A

Objectionable Content: Profanity, suggestive/sexual material, blood

Other: This can barely be called "Sword Art Online" anymore, since the focus of the new season isn't "Sword Art Online", but, anyway... I guess that's why I'm giving SAO II its own review.

There's some pretty interesting aftermath from SAO brought into the mix in the "Gun Gale Online" arc, and newcomer Sinon has a fun dynamic going with Kirito, while Asuna and other secondary characters take a back seat. Later in the season, however, the other characters take more of the spotlight in two out-of-place story arcs that don't really add to the overall plot or have the sense of urgency that SAO and GGO had.

Overall Score: A

Recommendation: 3/5
