Eureka Seven

Plot: Renton dreams of escaping his mundane life with his mechanic grandfather, and when LFO pilot, Eureka, comes to the shop, bringing trouble behind her, he gets his wish -- he is brought into the Gekko State, a group of pilot-mercenaries that he has always looked up to. But he soon finds out that the Gekko State isn't all it's cracked up to be. (There's a lot more to it than this, but it's rather convoluted. B-)

Other: I tackled this series after a friend recommended it to me. As I said up in the "plot" section, there's a lot of stuff going on in this series, and it can get pretty confusing. There's Renton and Eureka's relationship, the military being after Gekko State, conflict between humans and these strange beings known as "scrub coral" (the most confusing part) and a bunch of smaller plots. There are some really good parts and some parts I really disliked or found unnecessary. So this series is kind of a mixed bag, and on top of that, you come out of it scratching your head.

There's a manga too, but I've only read the first volume.
