Ergo Proxy

Plot: When the peaceful dome-city of Romdeau is rocked by murders carried out by androids (or "AutoReivs") that have been infected with a virus that makes them self-aware, investigator Re-L Mayer is put on the job. Her search leads to encounters with mysterious beings known as "Proxies". An immigrant named Vincent Law has some connection with them, and Re-L is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery of the virus and the Proxies... (A-)

Other: Somewhat convoluted (and bogged down with philosophical ponderings), some episodes make less sense than others; but overall, an intriguing anime.
