Little Busters

Plot: Orphaned Riki Naoe and his four childhood friends make up the Little Busters. With talk of going their separate ways to college and work after high school, the Little Busters want to spruce up their remaining time together with as much fun as they can cram in -- so they start looking for members to form a baseball team... (Not a whole lot happens at the start, but it gets better. B)

Characters: (Just starting to develop thus far) B+

Art & Animation: A

Voice Acting: A-

Music: A

Objectionable Content: Mild; some fan service, mild profanity

Other: Key's newest addition to their quality lineup is also a slice-of-life school drama that starts off light with some unusual characters and off-base gags. But as it develops, it gets more emotional and starts to go into heavier material. Be patient with this one.

School Rumble

Plot: Here's the scoop: airheaded high-schooler Tenma Tsukamoto has a crush on Ouji Karasuma, but can't seem to tell him her feelings, no matter how hard she tries; the rough-and-tumble delinquent, Kenji Harima, is head-over-heels in love with Tenma, but every time he tries to confess, something goes terribly awry. Even though Tenma and Harima have a laughably-ridiculous number of things in common, the two just can't seem to hit it off! Thus begins Tenma and friends' drama-filled, action-packed new school year! (B)

Characters: Nothin' deep, but they are fun. (B)

Art & Animation: B+

Voice Acting: A-

Music: B-

Objectionable Content: Innuendo, fan service, suggestive themes, profanity

Other: Parodies and romantic hijinks galore are the order of the day as the hopelessly thick-headed Tenma and the master of misunderstandings, Harima, chase the objects of their affection. Guaranteed to give viewers a good laugh.

Accel World

Plot: Haruyuki Arita hates himself and his school life. He has bullying problems due to his weight and spends most of his time playing online games, as they're the only thing he excels at. When his upperclassman, Kuroyukihime, gives him a program called "Brain Burst", he's instantly intrigued by his newfound ability to accelerate to amazing speeds. But to keep the program, he has to fight other Burst Linkers to keep his in-game points from reaching zero... (A)

Characters: Multi-layered and investing (A)

Art & Animation: A

Voice Acting: A

Music: B+

Objectionable Content: Profanity, suggestive themes, fan service

Other: This series is complex and intriguing. The design of the main character may take a bit of getting used to, but keep watching. I'd definitely recommend it.

K

Plot: In the future, seven super-powered clans fight for control under their "kings". Yashiro Isana lives on-campus at his high school, which is built on a small island. His life is peaceful there until someone that looks like him is caught on video killing a member of one of the clans. With clan members now on his trail, a dangerous man named Kuro hunts him down to carry out his late mentor's request -- deem whether the new "colorless king" is good or evil; and if he is evil, kill him. While Yashiro tries to prove that he hasn't killed anyone, he is targeted by the other clans and soon becomes embroiled in their war. (A)

Characters: Interesting thus far (A-)

Art & Animation: A+

Voice Acting: A

Music: A+ (on the interior music, but not the opening or ending XD)

Objectionable Content: Blood, nudity, strong profanity, fan service/suggestive themes

Other: So far, there are less than ten episodes. The series is confusing at the outset, but progressively pieces together what's going on. The art is amazing, the interior music is unique, and the characters are fun. The biggest blows against it are the level of objectionable content and its hints at shonen-ai. ^

Jyu-Oh-Sei

Plot: After their parents are murdered, Thor and his twin brother, Rai, are dropped on a planet called Chimaera, where the worst criminals are sent to die, and fighting is the only way to survive. Rai is killed, but Thor is taken in by the Ochre Ring. There, he learns that the only way off of Chimaera is to work his way to the top of his ring and defeat the other leaders -- only then can he take the shuttle back to his home planet, Juno, and unravel the mystery of his parents' murder. (Good concept -- A)

Characters: A-

Art & Animation: A

Voice Acting: Dub -- A-

Music: B+

Objectionable Content: Blood, suggestive themes, profanity

Other: The first episode or two make it seem like a survival battle "Lord of the Flies" style. But, thankfully, that isn't the case. The story picks up quickly, has plenty of good twists, and even at its short eleven or twelve episode length, it's not a bad wrap-up. (Still didn't like the end for certain reasons.)
