MyOtaku Memories

Although I have not been involved in the so-called "myOtaku versus Worlds" scene, and I can't really say too much because I never involved myself with myOtaku, I keep hearing a statement that bothers me, and I feel I must speak to it.

Is it fair to demand that the denizens of myOtaku.com, those longtime members who have made the site their "second home", leave behind all their memories of the place they came to love and start somewhere completely new?

In my lurkings, I have come across this sentiment multiple times, and in each instance, though I understand the feeling fully, I do not believe that the person who raises the issue really knows of what they speak.

Now, I am in no way attempting to invalidate the views of those who called myOtaku Home. In fact, quite the opposite; those who grew attached to it have every reason to look at the site in that manner. No, my query lies with the abandonment of memories and the fairness of the perceived demand, and if you will indulge me, I would like to try to offer a clear perspective, from one who has undergone an uprooting as well.
