In The City

As I've stated a few times before, my current job (which for the past nearly two years has only been grueling training for said job) is pretty mentally, emotionally, and psychologically exhausting. My schedule right now is even worse, but at the end of it we're fortunate enough to get a four-day weekend, so I took the opportunity to drive over to New York City and bum around for a while.

Kimmeh was kind enough to take time off of work to fly up and hang out with me the whole time. I had a blast, and she enjoyed herself despite her jet lag and new-place-sleep-issues and stress from AZ because apparently no one can function without her around. We hit a few shopping districts, saw Iron Man 3 (which was really good), bummed around Times Square and Central Park, went to a performance of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra featuring Wynton Marsalis, wandered through various streets, and generally did nothing but walk.

Kim isn't used to walking, apparently. Her feet bothered her a lot. I thought about carrying her a few times but I felt it would be kinda awkward so I didn't bother offering.

Saturday we had lunch with Adam in Chinatown at a very good place he knew about. Adam is a silly man, bless him. He apparently bragged to everyone he could about meeting us, and even brought us "swag"...which was basically odd things out of the back corner of his closet.

  • A really bad Halloween mask

  • An authentic TheOtaku.Com T-shirt (L) featuring Spiky-Kun
  • A set of Nimble Strong coasters
  • A trio of really really bad anime (including EarthSea, which boasts Adam's worst anime review to date)
  • A bottle of '08 Merlot

Not even joking. Totally bribing us with wine. Too bad Kim only drinks rum. =P

MewMew also lives in the area. I had told her I was coming, but she, like a bubble-head, totally forgot until Kim started posting stuff about our adventures (or her adventures; for some reason I was strangely nonexistent...). She then proceeded to blow up both of our phones and my Skype until she finally managed to take us out for pizza with her and her boyfriend.

If you're curious, I posted a slew of photos over on The Bookyface for people to check out. It's mostly shots of buildings because I'm a writer and I like to be accurate about any environments I create. But I still think it's interesting. And sometimes you might catch bits and pieces of Kim. =P

Thomas O'Malley is not my real name. It is a reference to the cat of the same name in the Disney movie The Aristocats.
