Every problem is an opportunity in a bad disguise.
Avatars were broken and you all really wanted PNG capabilities
So we took the opportunity to re-write our image uploading code to version 2.0
It's now handling avatar uploads. If your avatar is appearing broken on pages where it's super small, re-upload it and it should work fine. (Let us know in comments here if not.)
The next step is to let the new image uploading code work its magic on submissions. This will let you upload PNG files.
Let the tedious work/testing begin!
Also, Psychonauts is pretty rad. The first screen you see shocked me because it's just like Super Mario Galaxy.
Re: this post. I'm on it and will announce some site/policy changes soon. Quality is critically important to us.
What do you think of her up in the header now?
I saw a screening tonight. Really great documentary that highlights the developers behind the hit games Braid, Super Meat Boy and Fez.
Working on creative projects that can take literally years to develop is one of the most mood-swinging, draining things you can do and this film captured that struggle well.
I spent two weeks finishing a fully functioning prototype for version 1.0 of my new game hobby project
Epic fail. I was really disappointed with it. And watching people play it (the best way to know how good something is) was even more disappointing.
That's the hard part of games - and most other types of art, too - it's really tough to know whether what you envision will actually end up being any good once finished
So I talked to some smart people, hit the drawing board and am almost done with version 2.0.
Hopefully this will be worthy...
