Welcome to Project OATH:

“Otakus Against Terrorizing and Harassment”

OATH is an awareness group created by Otakus for Otakus. We were founded after a group of members witnessed that the vast majority of TheO’s population had fallen victim to terrorizing or harassment at home, in life and/or on the web. Project OATH was created in response to the many touching comments made on the issue. OATH’s main purpose on TheO is to help deal with, and spread knowledge, of the harmful effects of bullying and harassment, both online and off. We hope to inspire members to develop into more tolerant people and become dynamic elements of a healthy society. OATH aims to create a neutral ground where every one of its members can stand and receive support. Members will not be discriminated against due to their situation or any other aspect of their being. The Project is held together by its members and offers help and advice to anyone who requests it. We offer a place for members to come together and talk about different experiences in their day-to-day lives as well as present each other with helpful counsel and share their own opinions of any given subject. The members are expected to keep open minds and to respect one another’s opinions, even if one doesn't agree. OATH operates under the knowledge that “Until there's a public commitment, and action to back that commitment, a policy is only words on paper.” (Tim Field, 2002)
A solution needs to be found.

Project OATH intends to help find this path, even if we’re just one stepping stone.

Apology

Hello there! I've read the recent comments and something has been brought to my attention.
I can see why some may be hesitant about joining, and I didn't realize exactly how much information I'm asking for; I greatly apologize for that, and I thank you for bringing it up. I want this to be a really successful group.

The idea for the list of pet peeves and concerns was an idea based off of an assignment I did in my english class. We separated our pet peeves from a main concerns, and it really showed the way the people around me thought and what worries about them, whether it's themselves, their family, their friends, the world, etc. I thought it would be a great way to start this group off and get an understanding of what kinds of things we need to focus on.

The questions "Why do you want to join OATH?" was suppose to be a question aimed to see if you will show that you'll mostly be active. We want this group to stay active and not slowly die out - to continue make an impact for a long time.

The "What do you want to do for OATH" was for the sake of trying to organize the group. Groups are hard to set up and organize, especially with just one person. So I was looking for members who would be interested in helping with member requests or help organize one of OATH's worlds. I'm sorry if it seemed too demanding in some way.

the small description of yourself was just for an introduction of what kind of person you are. I want us all to be friends here, and to understand each other. I'm sorry if that happened to be a bit personal for people. Some descriptions weren't that long.

The sending in PMs for the member request is also for the sake of organization. It helps as some sort of check list, because we need to see exactly who is wanting to become a member, set them as guest posters for all of the worlds, and then subscribe to them.

The idea of seeking advice from others and posting about things that are concerning you was an idea based on my experiences. The members on theO have provided amazing advice and helped me mature and I'm greatly in debt to all of you. I'm still young and still learning, and there are a lot of people who have made the same mistakes or experienced the same feelings.

Plus all of the member introductions that will be posted will be posted in "The Discussion" world, a world that can only be viewed by members, people that really care and wish to help others. Of course I could be wrong, and I hope I'm not. I do understand if it's still too personal though.

Again I can't express how sorry I am. We're just starting off and we still need work on getting everything organized. Please comment any questions or complaints and I'll try my best to clarify or fix things. Also please provide suggestions so that I can tweak somethings and help make this better.

EDIT:// I just read through some of the PMs and we've already had two people resign.
Please know that I have nothing against this. Being part of a group can be stressful at times, such as keeping up with it and staying active. I'm aware that everyone has their own lives and concerns and I completely understand, so please don't feel bad about not being able to be completely dedicated. :)

Take care~

Reminder!

Please remember that when you send a member request, you must send things that include these things rather than just a PM that says you would like to join:

~ A list of pet peeves (Examples: Wide ruled paper, ear hair, wooden pencils, etc.)
~ A list of major concerns (Examples: War, bullying, getting into the right college, health of your family, etc.)
~ A small description of your number one concern and why it worries you
~ Why you want to join OATH
~ What you will do as an OATH member/what you wish to do for OATH (Examples: Be an Administrator, give advice, look for advice, help others, etc.)
~ Small description on what kind of person you are

It's wonderful to see such a positive response and seeing how many people would like to join. There are so many requests that it's really hard to keep up with it all. But please, even if I haven't responded, go ahead and subscribe to this account, and I'll subscribe back to show verify that I have accepted your member request and set you up as a guest poster.

Thank you!

Member Requests!

Project OATH is in need of new members in order to further development. Please spread the word, even if you don't plan on joining OATH.

Everyone who commented on FUNimation's Words Hurt Forever artwork up to this point will be sent a member request. Anyone who didn't comment will have to send a Member Request on their own if they would like to join.

Member Requests must consist of:
~ A list of pet peeves (Examples: Wide ruled paper, ear hair, wooden pencils, etc.)
~ A list of major concerns (Examples: War, bullying, getting into the right college, health of your family, etc.)
~ A small description of your number one concern and why it worries you
~ Why you want to join OATH
~ What you will do as an OATH member/what you wish to do for OATH (Examples: Be an Administrator, give advice, look for advice, help others, etc.)
~ Small description on what kind of person you are

These member requests will help us understand each other and our views. The lists of pet peeves and major concerns will help organize what kind of problems are of greatest concern and what we can do about them. You will then be made a guest poster and will be asked to share your lists in The Discussion world (Note: The Discussion world can only be viewed by members). Administrators will be given the password to the Project OATH account and will post major updates and such under it. Other posts relating to them rather than the project will be posted on their accounts.

Once we get more members, specific jobs will be assigned to the admins(though we might rotate jobs, it depends on what we decide.)

Member recommendations are also accepted, and the people you recommend will be sent a Member request.
Please help spread the word about OATH and it's cause!
