Morning came early in the woods.
Inari sat up in bed, rubbing his green eyes and yawning widely. As he blinked the sleep out of his eyes, he peered around the room and spotted Ringo slipping on a fresh shirt.
"G'morning, sunshine!" Ringo beamed, "Sleep well?"
"Yeah!" Inari lied quickly. In truth, he'd slept horribly, suffering from nightmares and anxiety all night. But, he did his best to hide it, "Where's Yoru-san?"
The Alchemist sat on his bed and pulled out some clean socks, "He's already out with his teacher. She trains early! Nia is downstairs right now fixing you and I some delicious breakfast!"
"Oh..." the boy stretched and scratched his head. Then, a thought struck him, "Hey, Ringo-san? How can Nia be Sensei's daughter if Nia is a human and Sensei is a cat?"
Ringo blanched, then sighed, "Should've foreseen this... Inari-kun, Sensei is actually a human too. A Spell was put on her and she was turned into a cat. You see?"
"Who would do that to her?!" Inari jumped up, "Why?"
Ringo shook his blonde head vigorously, "No one likes to talk about it, okay?" his voice was stern and serious, "So, don't mention it around anyone, alright? It's not your place to go asking." The boy nodded a couple times in understanding. Apparently, the subject was a tender area. And, he was not allowed into tender areas. He was not a long-time member of the group. He'd learn things in due time...
