Yes, Ukitake is supposed to be a ghost here. Story behind the wallpaper is he's haunting the abandoned hospital.

This is a very morbid wallpaper, I know. But after finding the background image for this wallpaper, I couldn't steer from using a morbid theme. I originally wanted to do something humorous, like "The treatment here sucks," but it just didn't seem right. Ukitake appears too resentful in this wallpaper to use something funny.

Ukitake is my favorite soul reaper from Bleach, and not because he's sickly. I just find him very intelligent and enjoy his character.
