Hmmm...this is a little different from my usual style of walling, isn't it? Heh. I notice that no one seems to like my blazing hot-blooded wallpapers, for some reason I cannot fathom, and my most popular ones seem to be the dark and depressing ones. I thought, "dark and depressing just isn't me! I'll do things my own way!" and thought nothing more of it until recently. Well, I've been working on a Tokyo Mew Mew fanfic series, "Project Augury", lately, and part of the story deals with Ichigo losing sight of her own identity.
When I'm writing, I choose the music I'm listening to (as well as my desktop wallpaper, what time it is, and a lot of other stuff) very carefully, since whatever I was thinking about or hearing at the time it was written can show itself in the writing. So for a lot of the Ichigo scenes, I'm listening to the song "A Stray Child" (composed by Yuki Kajiura for the .hack//SIGN soundtrack). It really seems to "work" with Ichigo's storyline for the fanfic, in terms of both the atmosphere and the lyrics.
When I thought that way, I noticed that I hadn't ever made any Tokyo Mew Mew wallpapers, and I didn't really have any wallpapers to use when working on Project Augury. I figured, "well, maybe just this once, I can make a wallpaper that's not bursting with willpower." So I ended up with this. Of course it's not quite as dark and depressing as I'd hoped...I guess old habits die hard.
Part of the idea behind this wallpaper was "taking a cute character and showing them in a less-than-cute light"...since in Project Augury, the idea of Ichigo's storyline is "Ichigo Momomiya is starting to disappear, now there's only Mew Ichigo". In the original Tokyo Mew Mew story, Mew Ichigo was sort of a cute, idealised superhero, but in a story where she is taking over and getting rid of the "normal" side of Ichigo, she becomes more of a scary, almost villainous character. So, since part of Project Augury is twisting our view of Mew Ichigo a bit, I figured I might as well have a wallpaper like that too.
