The poem is not a poem at all. The phrases are excerpts from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. I was given Chapter 9 from the book, asked to work with a group in English II and use sentences and phrases to make a poem of up to 35 to 40 lines. I chose my favourite ones and thus was borne this. Glad you enjoyed it.
