Japan Takes Foreign Film Award Home

Speaking of the Oscars, Yojiro Takita's Okuribito (Departures) won best Foreign Film of 2008. This breaks one of the longest droughts in Academy history. The last time Japan won in this category was 1955 for Samurai: The Legend of Musashi. On a side note, the first Japanese film to win in this category was Rashomon, which is still considered to be one of the top 100 films of all time. Source Link
