Artist Feature of the Month: May
Hello everyone! This is back! Apologies for not getting an April Feature up, but things got a bit busy around Easter time.
Our Featured Member for May is: Nikkeh09!
We would like to extend our thanks to Nikki for taking the time to answer our (many) questions! Also, thank you to KairiJun for creating some of the questions featured in this interview.
1. How did you come across theOtaku?
When I first got into anime around 2008 I actually found this site from one of my anime buddies and created an account. It was somehow deleted and it took me years to come back but I'm glad I did (:
2. Where did you come up with your username?
Well 2009 is when I graduated high school (most of my usernames have that ending) and all my friends pronounce my name nikkeh instead of nikki ha ha so it just stuck.
3. What type of art do you specialize in?
Well I love traditional work, especially pen but I try very hard to expand this. For months, I've been working on coloring my art. I also prefer still life although I only really post anime on here.
4. How do you think theOtaku has assisted with your art growth?
TheOtaku has really made my focus anime. In fact I only drew still life until I started my account on here ^^. I've also met some really nice people who give me tips on my art to help me improve.
5. What is your favorite color?
My number one color has to be purple but I really appreciate the color combination of light blue and light rose pink.
6. Who has inspired you on this website? In general?
Well to be honest many, many people have inspired me through encouraging words and their art whether they realize it or not. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to give names but Hifsa has always been a great friend with wonderful advice and I really admire Toyotami kun's work. Of course everyone here has a special place in my heart.
7. How do you decide when a fan art/ ecard/ wallpaper is finished?
Well I have a hard time deciding when its done but generally when I feel like adding more may ruin/take away from the picture. I guess all of my work has room for improvement so it would be easy to pick up any work and continue to work on it so it's never really truly done.
8. Have you ever taken art classes?
I took them every year in middle/high school but not in college. It's hard for me to do something artistic when I'm made to, I'm more comfortable doing it on my on at my own pace.
9. Anything else you’d like to share? (Quite literally, anything!)
It's been a difficult year but I can always count on my friends here to lend an ear and give advice and I'd like to think I can return the favor. TheO is a very special place and I'm glad I found it again!
10. What are you looking forward doing in your future works?
I look forward to expanding my comfort zone as well as improving my work.

12. What are your favorite artist/bands/music? (anime/videogames included!)
I love classical music and OSTs from most animes/videogames. I'm not really into music in general though. I'm obsessed with LoZ like really bad and Harvest Moon is pretty close to my number one spot in videogames. Bleach and Inuyasha will always be my top two animes because they are the first ones I watched and I'm completely hooked now!
