Sazae-San Makes The Digital Leap

Recently recognized as the longest running animated program in history, the forty-four year long series, Sazae-San, has always relied on cel animation for each five-minute episode, with the animators hand drawing all the action. That is about to change. The announcement that Sazae-San will switch to digital marks the official death of hand-drawn anime. Link

Pokémon XY Anime Trailer Revelations

In continued anticipation of the release of Pokémon XY, a new trailer has revealed several facts about the new anime. Ash’s newest companions will include the trainer Serena and a brother and sister duo named Citron and Eureka; mega-evolutions will be canon in the anime; and America might see a dub of the first two episodes of Pokémon XY as soon as October 19 on Cartoon Network. XY launches October 12 in Japan.

Origin Makes The Trip Via Streaming

In other Pokémon anime news, America will get to see Pokémon: The Origin on November 15. The four episodes will be streamed online. Link

Live-Action Princess Mononoke Sequel Funded

On September 29, the Kickstarter project for Wolf Girl was officially funded. Based on the legendary Hayao Miyazaki film Princess Mononoke, Wolf Girl is a UK made fan film that tells of a future 600 years after the original story. The forest needs a new princess following another large shift in the balance of man and nature. Link

Magi – The Labyrinth of Magic Dub Cast Announced

Aniplex USA has announced the dub cast for the first season of Magi – The Labyrinth of Magic. Based on the classic tale One Thousand and One Nights, the cast includes Cristina Vee, Matthew Mercer, Todd Haberkorn, and the premiere of Erica Mendez as Aladdin. The second season of Magi premieres in October and the dub has yet to state a releases date.

Cosplay Seller Charged With Forgery

Japanese company Nagai Works has been charged with selling unlicensed merchandise to the tune of 300 million yen. Company president Nobue Katō allegedly agreed to a deal where his employees recreated costumes from the show Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and sold them under fake names such as Trymax. Link

FUNimation Offering Recompense

Due to a mix-up within the packaging department, distribution company FUNimation recently shipped the edited version of the anime Sankarea, confusing fans who ordered the uncut set. The company issued an apology and asked buyers to send information to an e-mail hotline for an exchange. The e-mail is sankareareturns@funimation.com.

Singing Sensation Meets Japanese Idols

Singer Robin Thicke quickly became one of this year’s biggest stars with his club hit "Blurred Lines." As shown in this promo, it seems he has singers Haruna Kojima and Yuko Oshima of AKB48 as fans.
