First Kaze Tanichu Trailer Revealed

Kaze Tanichu is the newest work by legendary director Hayao Miyazaki and, at long last, we see some evidence of its existence. According to Miyazaki, it is "the first time I cried for one of my films." It premieres July 20.

A New Adventure Awaits

According to TV Tokyo, the newest Pokémon series begins on October 17. Based on the new X and Y video game titles in the franchise, the fifth series joins Ash in the new region of Kalos. Link

Kill or Be Killed

The official website for Studio Trigger began streaming the second trailer for their first full-length anime. From the team that created Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill is the struggle for high school supremacy between a despotic council president and a transfer student wielding a giant sword.

Otakon Snags Some Wolves

Anime convention Otakon has won the exclusive right to premiere the English dub of Mamoru Hosoda's Wolf Children. The ADR/dub director Mike McFarland will attend the Baltimore convention, where he will announce FUNimation's plans to release the film in American theaters and on DVD and Blu-Ray. Link

Before Pain, There Was A Legacy

Over the past 25 years, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has left an indelible mark on the video game industry. Before Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain is released, prepare to relive it all. Hideo Kojima has announced the release of Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy, a collector's pack of all eight MGS games, from 1987's Metal Gear Solid to 2012's Blu-Ray release Metal Gear Solid: Bande Dessinée. The pack will be exclusive to the PS3.

The Deadman Has Come to The Grave

Kadokawa Shoten has announced the end of Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondou’s highly acclaimed manga Deadman Wonderland on July 26. The manga tells of one Ganta Igarashi’s fight for survival and clarity in a maximum security prison after the mysterious death of his entire classroom. Link

How To Manga

Dark Horse Comics, in association with the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, has revealed a book detailing the world of manga. Titled CBLDF Presents Manga, the guide looks to educate librarians, teachers, and parents on the history, genres, creators and challenges of manga. Several dozen experts in the field contributed to the work. Link

Gargantia’s Newest Denizens

The official blog for the ongoing anime Gargantia of the Venderous Planet has revealed twelve characters that are to be inserted into the series finale, thanks in part to lucky fans sending in artwork. Production I.G. decided to expand the amount of winners to twelve following an influx of high quality work. Link

Thermae Romae Rides Again

The cult manga Thermae Romae may have ended in March, but creator Mari Yamazaki has promised a spinoff will begin in the October issue of Monthly Comic Beam. The spinoff will follow the exploits of Hanako, a horse that befriended the first protagonist Lucius. Link

Niconico Reaches The Two Million Mark

Japanese streaming service Niconico has announced the registration of their two millionth premium subscriber. The lucky user, masadola, was honored with an announcement on the popular site. Niconico also revealed a new mascot by the name of Nihyakkuman for the occasion. The popular site claims 13.5 million regular users. Link

This Guy Is Ready For The Titans

A user from Niconico and YouTube going by the name Jacqueline has revealed his design for fully functional three-dimension maneuver gear from the anime Attack On Titan. Using a series of magnets, CO2 canisters, and steel blades, he even shows a step-by-step building process, for those crafty enough to try.

…And So Are Gamers

Not ready to build a real version of Attack on Titan's maneuver gear? Modders have outfitted their avatars in MineCraft and Second Life with virtual giant-killing equipment.
