YouTube is celebrating the Japanese holiday Golden Week with ten days of live music from Japan’s hottest acts. Names include Golden Bomber, AKB48, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Boom Boom Satellites, and livetune.

The Return of Rozen

Studio DEEN has revealed the first trailer of a new Rozen Maiden anime, which will premiere in July.

In Mother Russia, Death Note Killed By You

Death Note is back in the controversy spotlight. The Ural Parents Organization have sent a letter to Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin asking for the ban of all material regarding the franchise, stating that it's a harmful influence. The letter comes following the suicide of a fifteen year-old. Police say she owned four volumes of Death Note. Link

In United States, We May Get Death Note Movie

In other Death Note news, director Shane Black wants his next project to be an American adaptation of the manga. Black already cut his comic book teeth with the highly successful Iron Man trilogy. Talks with Warner Bros. have already begun. Link

Vocaloid The III

Yamaha has officially revealed the next voices in the Vocaloid library. In collaboration with world renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy franchise, Vampire Hunter D), the new package, dubbed Zola Project has three new male voices. Amano described them as "a sweet voice with an air of pathos," "a traditional voice of clarity and power," and "a lyrical, husky voice that sounds foreign." Expect a release in June. Link

Anime’s Greatest Beard Comes Off

In a recent commercial with Schick Razor, Neon Genesis Evangelion character Gendo Ikari decides to shave off his iconic beard. Amazingly, it turns out that his facial hair was the source of all his evil and he becomes a reformed man. Fans can also purchase razors with Rei, Asuka, Unit-00, and Unit Mark.06 figures.

Signature Merch

Japanese company e3paper has announced inkan stamps with character faces from Madoka Magica. Inkan stamps can be used in place of a signature at most Japanese institutions. Link

The Moon Halts Its Phases

A Twitter interview with Fumio Osano, editor at media conglomerate Kodansha, has confirmed that the new Sailor Moon anime is officially delayed. No reason has been given. The only information is that it will not premiere in 2014. Link

RIP Isuka Hakozaki

Editors of the magazine Young Gagan broke the news that Isuka Hakozaki, artist of the manga Caterpillar, suddenly passed away this week. Caterpillar was the first professional work of Hakozaki and was created in association with Shinya Murata. Link
