Witness The Return of a PokeLegend

In 1998, the film Pokémon: The First Movie shocked fans with the wrath of Mewtwo. On July 13, he makes his epic return as he takes on the only other man-made Pokémon, Genesect. ExtremeSpeed Genesect: Mewtwo’s Return is the sixteenth film in the Pokémon franchise and will be coupled with the short, Eevee Friends.

A Short Film About A Witch

Studio Trigger is now streaming their first short film, Little Witches Academia, which will be featured in the upcoming compilation film, Anime Mirai 2013. The story tells of Akko, a young girl who yearns to become a great witch. To prove herself she must overcome the challenges of a magical academy.

Kick Start My Heart

Masaaki Yuasa (Kaiba, The Tatami Galaxy) and Production I.G. have previewed the first trailer of their collaborative short film, Kick Heart. Funded completely by Kickstarter, the film centers around two masked wrestlers who find love in the ring. It will compete for an award at Annecy, the world’s largest animation festival, and premieres May 26th.

Who Is Japan?

From April 28 to May 6, Akiba Square, Akihabara will host the third annual "100 Artist Exhibition." The display features 100 anime artists, who each develop one work that fits a specified theme. This year's theme is "One View of Japan," which asks artists to humanize Japan in one scene Link

Round Two in Clash of Minds

Back in 2009, the cast of Detective Conan and the Lupin III franchise squared off in a TV special, which dealt with the accidental shooting deaths of two European royals. This December, anime’s greatest detective and criminal are back in a full-length film. Link

DragonBall Creator Goes Green

Akira Toriyama, creator of the DragonBall franchise, has released a children's manga about protecting the environment. Delicious Island’s Mr. U is about two men who fight alien invaders bent on stripping an island paradise of its resources. Link

Sentai Picks A Flower

Licensing company Sentai Filmworks will take a chance on the highly controversial Flowers of Evil. The anime, based on the manga Shūzō Oshimi, tells the dark tale of a student blackmailed into a wicked life when his passion for another student goes too far. Expect a DVD release some time in the near future.Link

Manga Artist Tags Tokyo Bookstores

Masayuki Ishikawa, creator of Moyashimon, commemorated the manga’s 12th volume in a unique way. As the video below shows, Ishikawa went around to local bookstores and manga shops, creating original works on the spot. His primary tools were felt tip and permanent markers.

New Jersey Recommends Video Game Regulation

New Jersey’s SAFE Task Force has submitted a report to Gov. Chris Christie (R) with recommendations to curb violence. Among the notes included are calls to further ID checks when purchasing mature games, make ESRB ratings highly conspicuous, remove game outlets from state owned property and further research the affect of video games on people's mental state. The Keyblade Chooses Its Master

Man At Arms is a new YouTube show that features film prop metallurgist Tony Swatton. Every week, he designs and builds fictional swords for real life use. His most recent video features a challenge presented by his viewers: create a working Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts.
