First SAO English Trailer

Aniplex USA gives us a first look at the English dub of last year’s breakout hit, Sword Art Online. The cast includes Bryce Papenbrook as Kirito and Cherami Leigh as Asuna, with Cassandra Lee, Christine Marie Cabanos, Sarah Williams, and Patrick Seitz rounding out the cast

Black Lagoon Sequel English Trailer Revealed

The gang's all back as the original Black Lagoon cast reunites for the sequel Black Lagoon – Roberta’s Blood Trail. Tabitha St. Germain reprises her role as Roberta, as does Maryke Hendrikse for Revy. The cast also includes Brad Swaile, Cathy Weseluck, Shannon Chan-Kent, and Trevor Devall.

Video Game Violence Scrutinized Again

Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) is resurrecting the argument that glorifying assault weapons in video games is detrimental to mental health. This comes after an analysis of Newtown shooter Adam Lanza showed that he "may have played video games like Starcraft and Call of Duty." Since 1984, video games have been included in violence reports but critics say this is nothing more than scapegoating. Link

Off-Beat Anime Personality Hospitalized

Director Shinichi "Nabeshin" Watanabe (Excel Saga, The Wallflower) posted on Facebook that he was admitted to the hospital on Monday for a sudden heart attack. He will be there for a brief stay so doctors can analyze his overall health. Watanabe is to be a distinguished guest at Anime Boston 2013, May 24-26. Link

Madoka Goes Global

Aniplex will make both Puella Magi Madoka Magica films available for release in a DVD/Blu-Ray bundle that will premiere simultaneously throughout the world. North American viewers can expect extras with the Collector’s Edition, which includes new cover art, a deluxe booklet, the original soundtrack, and a special postcard created especially by Aniplex. SyFy Gets A New Outfit

The SyFy Channel has green-lit three new reality shows and one involves cosplay competition. Cosworld will pit cosplay stars against each other to see who can win the top prize at fandom conventions. Also mentioned was Fandemonium, a show in which superfans of many breeds express how their passion affects their daily lives. Link

Live-Action Kiki's Delivery Service Rumor Quashed

Fukuinkan Shoten, publisher of the manga that became Kiki's Delivery Service, recently denied rumors that a live-action version was in the works. While the company noted there had been talks with Hollywood "long ago," they "did not become a reality." Link

RIP Noboru Yamaguchi

Mangaka Noboru Yamaguchi has died at the age of 41 after a two-year battle with cancer. He was known as the creator of the Zero no Tsukaima light novel series. Yamaguchi began his career as a scriptwriter for video games but broke through in 2000 by writing light novels. The 20th novel in the series was published back in 2011 and the fourth spin-off television series, Zero no Tsukaima F, ran in 2012. His last words were ones of thanks to all those who encouraged him.
