Film distributor GKids gives us a first look at the English version of Studio Ghibli and Goro Miyazaki's new film From Up On Poppy Hill.

Seven Balls meets Thirteen Herbs and Spices
Colonel Sanders is cosplaying. You read that right. Outside of the majority of Japanese KFCs stands a statue of the Colonel, and up until the release of the new DragonBall Z movie, he will be donning Goku's battle attire. Link

Summer Wars Manga Acquired
Vertical Publishing has acquired Iqura Sugimoto's Summer Wars manga, which is based on the acclaimed anime film by Mamoru Hosoda. The two-volume work was released as a tie-in back in 2009 and releases on October 22nd. Link

The Newest Live Adaptation Possibility
In a recent interview with Screen Daily, Korean filmmaker Kim Jee-woon, director of the Arnold Schwarzenegger film The Last Stand, confirmed that he's working on a live-action adaptation of the anime classic Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. Released back in 1999, Jin-Roh imagines Japan in the 1950's as an oppressive police state. Link

Two Years Later, Penguindrum Returns
Mangaka Isuzu Shibata announced that her adaptation of Mawaru Penguindrum will run in the magazine Comic Birz. This comes two years after the original anime ended. The anime, directed by Kunihiko Ikuhara (Revolutionary Girl Utena), is about a recently deceased girl who is reincarnated by three penguins. In exchange, her twin brothers must find the legendary Penguin Drum. Link

More Evangelion Merch
Camera developer Pentax hops on the Neon Genesis Evangelion merchandising bandwagon with three limited edition digital cameras that feature colors inspired by the show. The three options are inspired by Shinji, Asuka and Rei. Each camera costs roughly $660 and has a production run of 1,500 units. Available only in Japan. Link

American Librarians Name Their Top Manga
The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA)'s Top Ten Graphic Novels of 2012 list includes a manga title. Takeshi Murakami's Stargazing Dog is the story of an owner and his dog who are both found deceased in an abandoned car. Past the top 10, four other manga titles appear, including Attack on Titan and 5 Centimeters Per Second. Link

RIP Sukekiyo Kameyama
Voice actor Sukekiyo Kameyama has died at the age of 58 from pneumonia brought on by lymphoma. He passed away on January 26th at a Saitama prefecture hospital. Kameyama voiced nearly a dozen anime roles over the span of his career. His most famous role is arguably the official Japanese dub voice of beloved character Winnie the Pooh. He was laid to rest on Thursday in his resident city Sakado. Link
