Attention Male Singers Under 25
Acclaimed composer Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop) is seeking male singers under the age of 25 to help her record a new song. The single, Merry Song, will be recorded in February for a non-profit cultural event. She is collecting entries, both in Japanese and English, until January 30th. Link

Akihabara Finds Its Queen
The 3rd Annual Moe Queen of Akihabara contest has found a winner. 17 year-old Airi, a student and server at a local cafe, was chosen out of 12 girls to win 100,000 yen ($1,116) and a record contract. Link

Domo-Kun Invades the iPhone
Next month, NHK will release a video game starring their mascot Domo-kun, titled Domo-Kun: The Journey. Gameplay is described as a 2-D platformer in which Domo-kun must save his friend Tashanna from an evil Hungry Bear. Link

Pop Idol Guest Starring in Anime
The Japanese singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu makes her anime debut playing herself on an upcoming episode of Crayon Shin-Chan. No word on whether a cosplaying T.M. Revolution will crash the party. Link
