Anime Stars Galore Donate to Japanese Orphanages

A donation movement has sprung up in Japan where star characters from several famous Japanese anime have started donating money and school supplies to underprivileged children in Japanese orphanages and development centers. The acts of kindness started on Christmas of last year, when a donation of 10 backpacks worth ¥30,000 (about $360 USD) was given to an child guidance center in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture, under the name Tiger Mask, a famous anime wrestler that fights for children. Since then, over 290 donations have been given to centers across Japan by characters including Haruhi Suzumiya, Lupin III, Evangelion's Rei Ayanami, Ashita no Joe's Joe Yabuki, and Sengoku Basara's Date Masamune, overall totaling ¥10 million (about $120,000 USD). Way to start off 2011, Japan. Source Link
