If this isn't a good endorsement, nothing is! The Joan Ganz Clooney Center of the Sesame Workshop has released a report detailing the beneficial effects of video games for children (under adult supervision). Benefits include training in math, problem solving, and systems thinking (I like that one). Take THAT, Jack!

The antics of Kouta, Chizuru and Nozomu ended after only 12 episodes and were never shown in the U.S. as dubs (for good reason). Now, Atsushi Ootsuki and Xebec plan to create a new Kanokon anime which is now in planning stages. The cast will remain the same with Mamiko Noto as Kouta, Ayako Kawasumi as Chizuru and anime newcomer Miyu Takeuchi as Nozomu. Look for more updates on this story.

Rumour ahoy! Remember when everyone got all upset that Sony lowered the price of the PS3 at the expense of PS2 backwards-compatibility? Well, someone snooping around the patent office found a patent by Sony for some tech that would "allow the PS3's cell chip to translate code from the PS2's Emotion Engine". Whether this potentially means the return of reverse-compatibility or something else (like PS2 games on PSN), something's a'brewin'...

Remember a while back when Kadokawa started re-airing the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? Remember when they dropped a brand new episode right in the middle of that without any prior warning? Remember when they uploaded it on Youtube in Japanese only? Well, now it's up there subbed, along with the other seven episodes before it. Get 'em while they're hot.

Last Thursday, Jimmy Fallon and Tiger Woods played a couple games of "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10" for the Wii, once in Times Square, once live on Late Night. Fallon won the first game earlier in the day, but when the cameras were rolling, Tiger came through to show us why it's his face on the box... that, or why he plays real golf and not video game golf. Works either way, really.

Sony recently announced that the PSN (Playstation Network) version of Final Fantasy VII has sold more than 100,000 copies in only two weeks. The phenomena that is FFVII continues despite the game's age. The price tag ($9.99!) doesn’t seem too much for a piece of history, does it?

Good news, everyone! ICv2 recently published their annual report on the anime industry, which actually only dropped a total of 2% from the first part of 2008 to the first part of 2009. What does that mean? Well, compared to the 11% drop from 2007 to 2008, it means the industry slump -might- be coming to an end. Which is definitely good.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, one of the greatest, most memorable games in the recent history of the universe, is getting a movie by Columbia Pictures. At present, there's not enough to suggest this will be any different from all other brutally failed video game movies... but oh how we can hope... and pray that they get Nathan Fillion to play Drake... because he'd be perfect... just sayin'...

So many Wii accesories, so many injuries just a-waiting to happpen. The classic one? Playing Wii Bowling and flicking the mote through the flat-screen. Now it's much more easier with the handy-dandy bowling ball accesory! (facepalm included)

Jimmy Fallon, the new host of Late Night, is a well-documented gamer who loves to get all kinds of guests in the industry on the show. Well, come Thursday, he's going to have Tiger Woods as a guest! And guess what? They're gonna play "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10" on the Wii! Who will reign supreme? The little parody song guy, or the guy whose face is on the box?

Kotaku has just compiled a list of the best and worst fathers in video gaming. It's exactly what it says on the tin. Nominees include Princess Ruto's dad, who "loves his daughter, but is too fat and lazy to go save her when she goes missing inside a giant fish monster." Happy Father's Day, theOtaku.com!
If at First You Don't Succeed, Work for Fox. ~Aceburner29

I think at this point we can all safely and completely agree that Dragonball: Evolution was a failure of a movie, no matter what our individual opinions on it were. It was a commercial failure and even Fox has conceded this point. They have officially pulled the plug on the two sequels that were planned. However, far from calling off the idea altogether, they have decided to push the reset button and make another first Dragonball movie.
