Death Note Does The Beatles: A Song Tribute The Mask

Death Note is arguably one of the best anime and manga series of all time, and is shaping up to become a legend in the anime world. And now that the series has already concluded, it seems fitting that we pay tribute to this amazing series. Thus, here is a song tribute for Death Note. And what better way to do this than to use the hits from one of the great legends of the music industry, The Beatles.

I Won (Tune: I Will)
This song pays tribute to L, the greatest detective in the world. Throughout the series, we have seen L's desire to find the mass murderer Kira no matter what it takes. This song presents L's wish to defeat Kira. (Click here for original lyrics and music video.)

Who knows how long I've sought you?
You know I want you still.
Though I'll wait a lonely lifetime,
I will go and stop you kill.

And if I ever saw you,
I didn't catch you there.
But it never really mattered.
I will seize you soon, beware.

Find you forever and forever.
Find you with all I've got.
Find you whenever we're together.
Find you when we're apart.

And when at last I find you,
Your loss will fill the air.
Shout it loud so they can hear you.
Make it easy to arrest you.
For the guys you've killed
Appealed you to me.
Now, you know I've won.
I won.

Coda:
La la la la la la
La la la la la la

With My Note (Tune: In My Life)
This next song is a tribute to Light Yagami, the main character of the story. As Kira, he was determined to cleanse the world and to become its new god. He was willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his dream. This song presents this mindset that Light had. (Click here for original lyrics and music video.)

I.
There were people I've encountered
In my life, and they were killed.
Some were robbers, some were slayers.
Some were jailed and some were free.

Refrain:
All these people did injustice
With neighbors and friends, I still can recall.
All are dead and none are living.
With my Note, I've killed them all.

II.
But of all these thieves and killers,
There is no one compares with L.
And their murders lose their meaning
When I think of L as someone dead.

Refrain 2:
Though I know I'll never be in heaven
For sinners and goons that I have killed,
I know you'll often stop to thank to Kira.
With my Note, I've changed the world.

(Instrumental)

(Repeat Refrain 2)

With my Note, I've changed the world.

Death Note to Write (Tune: Ticket to Ride)
This last song depicts the defeated Light Yagami's final moments in Earth. This song will adhere more on the ending of the series in the original manga. If you hated Light throughout the series, singing the song with the original Beatles tune will be right for you. (Click here for original lyrics and music video.) If, however, you were a fan of Light just like me, I would suggest that you sing this with the melodious and slightly revised Carpenters version. (Click here for original lyrics and music video.) Also, when you sing this song, try to pronounce the name Ryuk as one word.

I.
I think I'm gonna be dead.
I think it's today.
The dream that's driving me mad
Is going away.

Chorus:
Ryuk's got a Death Note to write
Ryuk's got a Death Note to write
Ryuk's got a Death Note to write
And put my name

II.
I guess that begging to him
Is bringing me down,
'Coz he would never aid me
When I have a frown.

(Repeat Chorus)

Refrain:
I don't know when I'm leaving this world.
I want to live twice, I want to get out from this.
And now, my heart is saying goodbye.
I want to live twice, I want to get out from this.

(Repeat I & Chorus)

(Repeat Refrain)

(Repeat II & Chorus)

My death god won't care
My death god won't care
My death god won't care
My death god won't care

Yesterday
I added this as a bonus to this song tribute. Like the previous song, this also portrays the last moments of the life of Light Yagami, but puts more focus on his thoughts on that painful period of his life. No altering in the lyrics is necessary, since it is perfect just the way it is. (Click here for lyrics and music video.)

And that ends the magical mystery tour in the memory lane of Death Note. I hope you enjoyed it. And I hope we can cherish the great things that the series gave us in our hearts.
