Oonezumi loved Shinu, but then Shinu rejected him in chapter two. So he sought after Kashira for love.
When Shinu killed Kashira, Oonezumi's love for him evaporated and he only hated him. Notice that Oonezumi said in the second chapter, "I care about you more than anything." and in the third chapter, the opposite, "You are nothing to me,"
Yet, when Shinu quotes him in the forth chapter ("I care about you more than anything.") Oonezumi realizes that shinu did love him all along.
Shinu knew the love could never be because he had that necklace that was poisoning him and causing him to hurt others. As much as Shinu loved Oonezumi, he could not stop hurting him and he hated himself for it. So, he tried to drive Oonezumi away from him to keep him safe.
