Quick drawing of Edmond Dantes, the Count of Monte Cristo. His outfit comes from the fashion of the mid- to late- 1300s in the style of a gentleman. It might not show, but on his tunic are embroidered gold double crosses similar to the ones on the little crest in the lower righthand corner. This is very simple for the Count, but it would help him blend in more being dressed in sober colors. Ivan the Terrible of Russia's personal guards, the oprichniki, went around dressed in black monk's robes so you'd think they were there for some religious reason until they started slaughtering you and everyone else; very sneaky.
