My entry for moonlit dream’s contest. There may be some little details not visible in this size, so I strongly recommend high-res viewing.

Recently, I’ve only been submitting art for contests... because I was desperately looking for an excuse to draw, lol. Okay, there shouldn’t be such an excuse; the reason why I draw is because I like doing it. For the past month, I’m outta school but there’re piles of homework and I’m still under intense pressure to revise my work. If I don’t, I’ll burn in the hell which is my second and final year at college.

This pic marks my very first OC submission. Mind you, I spent over a year designing this character. This is more or less the finalized version, after MUCH editing. I’ll submit past designs in the future. And since this is a contest entry, I won’t post a detailed profile on here. That can wait till next time.

First things first, this one's a female *GASP*. Her name is Kagezaki Setsuna (影崎刹那). If you got her gender right before reading this, I’d only be much happier xD You know how much I complain that females are such physically complex beings, who are so hellishly difficult to capture on paper. It’s funny how I’m only challenging myself by making my first OC female. She lacks feminine qualities here, but I did it on purpose. And hey, the Jounin vest is definitely capable of hiding one’s assets if they’re small *ahem*. Canon examples are Shizune, Inuzuka Tsume (Kiba’s mom) and even the well-endowed Kurenai. Setsuna's chest is probably even smaller than Sakura’s, lol. Wearing a Jounin uniform and that mask hides her gender perfectly =P Basically, she has no babe qualities guys crave for. Saddening? Yes, but not for her, because...

Haha, ignore that. That was just lame shit. 8D

I realise many other OCs don’t wear Chuunin/Jounin vests. Shame on me for my lack of originality >_> I try to compensate for that as much as I can by making her outfit more elaborate.

Dual-wielding fighters usually carry their swords in an X-shaped manner on their backs, but I opted for this one instead because it’s easier to draw, lol.

Her left eye is blind, hence all that armour on her left arm. The symbol on the tsuba (sword guard: between blade and handle) is a futatsudomoe (a double-comma shape, like this: 69). I drew it inverted by accident. My bad... -_-

In this pic, she’s actually doing an anti-clockwise turn while swinging her sword, not dashing forward, that’s why her hair’s facing right. I probably failed to capture this aspect, so I’ll just let you know. I also tried playing with perspectives by making her left arm and sword bigger. My guts tell me something looks wrong there, but I don’t know what @_@ Oh, and her right hand is a little big, but I’m too tired to edit that.

One more thing: If you’re leaving a comment, I’d like you to guess her age =) No, she’s not deceivingly young nor is she deceivingly old. I just want to do this to see whether I drew her right for her age (though I admit it’s hard to guess because she’s almost entirely concealed...). Can you do that for me? ^^ It’s not so much for a favour, is it? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
