An even older drawing than even Captain Bubbles, this mischievous fairy was my first intentional attempt at drawing faeries. After I'd finished this one, I drew nothing but faeries for months. He doesn’t have a name, he’s known only as “The Pumpkin King”. It’s his job to make sure they all grow full and ripe in time for the harvest.
Just before I drew this, I read a Book entitled “How to draw Faeries”, or something like that. It recommended giving them abnormally long arms, legs, and fingers. As you can see, I went a little overboard, but I wasn’t willing to do it over again after I had finished the hands. Besides, like I said, it was my first try.
Oddly enough, the thing that gave me the most trouble on this drawing was the pumpkin(s). I’d never drawn them successfully, and certainly not this close up. Also, the character’s left foot gave me a headache. Such a headache, in fact, that I just left it how it was.
