sugar is a character in michel faber's novel "the crimson petal and the white." she's a 19-year-old victorian prostitute, reknowned for submitting to anything and making a damned good display of enjoying it, but secretly longing for violent, bloody revenge on every customer she's ever had. i was kinda unsatisfied with the picture on the cover that was supposed to be her, so i decided to draw her how i thought she should look. i used a picture of a victorian dress for reference, but the rest is straight from my head. click hi-res.
