That's a good rule to have. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking anyone who photoshops pics, but proof of real talent is what an artist can do with pencil and paper. My friend and I were just having a conversation about this tonight: we both agreed that poorly done art that's been photoshopped over is still poor art dressed up with slick colours and fancy backgrounds. This is a very good re-creation of the magazine cover, and you should be proud you did it all by hand. Anyone can click a fill button, but when you start to think, "how do I make this come out right by using coloured pencil/copics/pencil..." that's when you start thinking like a true artist. I shall hug and favor this piece. Sorry so long-winded...again, I have nothing against colouring on a computer - I've done it myself - but it should be just another medium, not the only medium you know.
