This card was made in commemoration of the official date of death of Light Yagami in the Death Note series. The song used is "The Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel. As he passes on and unwillingly surrenders his earthly life, he is now alone in a dark and silent place. As he lived the last moments of his life, he has a vision of his past life and of the things that he has done. Later on, he would have a vision of L, a man that he had successfully killed. These visions would continue to be in his head as he struggled with the physical pain of his bloodied body, until finally his time had come. He passed away, lonely and defeated.
As we commemorate his death later this week, let his tragic life remind us of the fact that we cannot live our lives alone. He passed away a lonely man who had wasted his once wonderful life on something that he never achieved and was never worth achieving. Let us not distance ourselves from other people and allow the sound of silence to reign in our lives. The people around us truly matter, and to value their presence and their lives is more important than simply striving to become superior to them. His life also highlights the fact that though we may have a purpose in life, we should make sure that this purpose of ours is truly worth living for.
