This is seriously a quote! It comes from Epictetus' "Encheiridion." When I found it, I just HAD to make it into an e-card. ^_^

Here's the bare minumum on Epictetus' background:

• lived between c.50 and c.130 in ancient Rome (if the name doesn't already scream that)
• was a slave in is younger years
• after getting out of that, he became a philosopher whose motto was "Bear and Forebear"
• preached Stoitism (which is basically a Western version of Buddhism)
